Mian Muhammad Hanif

Mian Muhammad Hanif

Mian Muhammad Hanif is a seasoned business executive and philanthropist currently serving as the Director of Madina Group of Industries (Pvt.) Ltd, a position he has held since October 1991. In this role, he provides inspired leadership company-wide, making executive decisions regarding policy and strategy while overseeing management, operations, production, and marketing for the group’s various industrial units. He also serves as the Director of Madina Sugar Mills Ltd., where he collaborates with senior management to set organizational values and plan for both short-term and long-term goals. Additionally, he has been the Director of Faisalabad Oil Refinery (Pvt.) Ltd since April 1986, developing and implementing operational policies and overseeing the company’s fiscal activities.

Beyond his business endeavors, Mian Muhammad Hanif has a significant presence in educational and social sectors. He was the Chairman of the Board of Governors at The University of Faisalabad from October 2002 to November 2019, during which he played a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s mission and vision. His commitment to social causes is also evident from his tenure as the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) from November 2006 to July 2018, where he focused on promoting diversity, addressing societal issues, and contributing to the development sector. His extensive experience and dedication to various fields make him a valuable addition to the advisory board of the Indus Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center (IMDRC).

DR. SHAOMING ZHU

Dr. Shaoming Zhu is a legal scholar and currently a lecturer at University College Cork (UCC) School of Law. Prior to joining UCC, Dr. Zhu received her Doctor of Juridical Science from Penn State University Dickinson School of Law and worked at Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

She is an advocate of inclusive global governance and the founder and President of the Foundation for Law and International Affairs (FLIA). Dr. Zhu advocates for empowering individuals’ rights in global governance and implementing inclusive decision-making mechanisms in diverse, transcultural, and multi-identity
contexts.

 

Her publications, including books, journal articles,blogs, and funded research projects, focus on law as a communication mechanism, international negotiation theories, NGO and charity law, individual rights, and other related topics. She has been granted more than 50 awards for her academic and social work in China, the US, and Ireland.

NADIR MUMTAZ

Nadir Mumtaz is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in maritime and public sector management. As the former Chairman of Karachi Port, he initiated key projects for food and energy security, enhancing port operations and stakeholder engagement. His tenure as Additional & Special Secretary at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs saw the development of significant policies such as the Maritime Transshipment Strategy and the introduction of the Blue Economy concept in Pakistan. With a strong background in strategic policy making, public sector administration, and maritime affairs, Nadir Mumtaz’s insights will greatly contribute to the strategic growth and operational excellence of the IMDRC.

AZIZ NISHTAR

Aziz Nishtar, a distinguished lawyer and academic, serves on the IMDRC Advisory Board. With an LLM and ITP from Harvard and an MPA from Quaid-iAzam University, Mr. Nishtar co-founded and manages a prominent law firm. He has held notable positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue, international tax news editor, and business strategy planner for Pakistan International Airlines. Mr. Nishtar specializes in international taxation, corporate tax, sales tax (VAT), corporate governance, and public-private partnerships. He has advised governments and institutions on legislative processes and drafting, notably as a Senior Legislative Drafting Expert with the British Council. Accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the UK, Mr. Nishtar is part of a core group pioneering commercial mediations in Pakistan. His expertise in law, governance, and mediation significantly contributes to IMDRC’s mission of promoting effective dispute resolution and mediation practices.

NOOR ZAMAN​

Noor Zaman brings a wealth of experience in public administration, particularly in industrial relations and human resource development. With a distinguished career spanning several decades, he has held significant positions such as Member of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), Senior Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and Registrar of Trade Unions. His expertise includes adjudicating industrial disputes, overseeing emigration issues, and administering the Industrial Relations Act. Noor Zaman’s strategic vision and leadership skills are invaluable to the IMDRC, particularly in areas of governance, legal compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

SHARIF UDDIN KHILJI

Sharif Uddin Khilji is a Chartered Accountant with over 26 years of professional experience in tax practice. As a Managing Partner at Khilji Rahat Waheed Chartered Accountants, he oversees federal and provincial sales tax, income tax cases, and tax litigation. He has worked with more than 1500 tax clients and has been instrumental in advising the Government of Pakistan on tax law reforms as part of the ICAP Fiscal Law Committee. Mr. Khilji has also provided tax advocacy services to key sectors including development, IT, and nutrition, and has been involved in international VAT implementation. SHAHID NASEER

Shahid Naseer is an esteemed international trade law expert and an Advocate of the High Court. His extensive legal career includes serving as a Member of the Anti-Dumping Appellate Tribunal, where he provided critical legal judgments and policy input on international trade matters. With a background that spans high-level roles at prestigious law firms and significant contributions to the National Tariff Commission. Mr. Naseer specializes in trade remedy laws, customs regulations, and corporate legal affairs. His profound understanding of legal frameworks and strategic policy development will greatly enhance the IMDRC’s legal and regulatory capacities.

MUHAMMAD MUDASSAR JAVED

Muhammad Mudassar Javed is a dynamic and visionary leader in the non-profit sector, serving as the CEO of the Society for Human Rights & Prisoners’ Aid (SHARP-Pakistan). With a background in anthropology and extensive experience in rights-based NGOs, he has spearheaded initiatives promoting social justice, human rights, democracy, and good governance. Mr. Javed is an alumnus of the IVLP leadership program by the US State Department and has represented his organizations at prominent global conferences. His expertise in strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and advocacy makes him a pivotal member of the IMDRC Advisory Board, contributing to its mission of enhancing mediation and dispute resolution.
